1. Vote “YES” to strike between August 13 and August 15. If all members vote, and all members vote “YES”, our Bargaining Team will have maximum power at the Bargaining Table to push our demands, fight off cut backs and avoid a showdown that could lead to a strike or lockout. Please talk to your co-workers and ensure everyone is voting.
2. Sign up for Strike Pay. First, you must make an account on OPSEU’s Member Portal. You will need your Union Number. If you don’t have it, please email inquiry@opseu561.org. Once you have logged onto the Portal, you can update your dependent information. You must also enter your banking information for direct deposit, as OPSEU provides Strike Pay through direct deposit. Can you wait for a strike first? Not unless you want to wait for thousands of late applications to process before you get paid.
3. Subscribe to Bargaining Team Newsletters if you are not receiving them. You must use your personal email.
4. Complete our Local 561 Strike Duty Survey to indicate which days/times/campus you are prepared to picket at. You can also sign up to be a Picket Captain or Marshal, or volunteer for other activities to help up prepare. Changes will always be allowed, but we need to organize ourselves. This is like a camping trip for 750 people, and preparation is needed.
None of Us Want a Strike. But We Will Strike if We Have to.
